Moment of Proof
I’m a busy mother to a 12-year-old boy with ADHD. Life can be pretty full-on. I have a passion for the written word as both a reader and a writer. Recently, I have taken up poetry as a mini-hobby. I chose editing so I could have the flexibility of caring for my son whilst working in a career I love.
I offer a bespoke, personable editing and proofreading service. I can help you with any writing project – whether it’s a report, sales brochure, magazine, newsletter, or novel – my keen attention to detail will ensure that your writing avoids any slip-ups or glitches and has a professional feel.
When you focus on shaping your language to appeal to your audience, your preferred customers are much more receptive to buying your product or service. Effective advertising contains short and eye-catching sentences to keep the audience engaged. The proofreading and editing process of an advertisement is as important as the writing of it.
Often business owners are put off from employing a professional editing service for fear of being judged or ripped-off. I will do neither.
My service is completely tailored to the needs of each individual customer. My prices are competitive and DBFY members can benefit from a reduced charge of £10 for the first 1000 words for editing and £7 the first 1000 words for proofreading.
When proofreading your document, I will check and rectify:
- Spellings and typographical mistakes
- Punctuation and grammar
- Layout issues such as page numbering, consistency with headings, placement of graphics and tables, and more.
When editing your document, I will do all of the above plus:
- Research to check facts (correct dates, names etc)
- Provide usage and style correction, ensuring consistency
- Offer solutions to awkward phrasing
Flag and offer remedies for unclear or confusing language
- Optimise your message for your chosen audience.
