Dawn Torrington
Founder Of DBFY

As the founder and owner of Doing Biz for Yourself Dawn Torrington is a well known local business networking Queen working in and around the Oldham, Rochdale and Greater Manchester area.

Dawn is passionate about working with small business after her first business Knickerbocker Cuddles (Ice – cream scented cards), didn’t have chance to get off the ground through a varying array of setbacks that included suppliers not delivering an honest service and lack of knowledge and experience in the sector. And there was little to no support or guidance available.

From the startling realisation that the business had failed Dawn saw an opportunity for her own self development and set about enhancing her skills and weaknesses putting time effort and money into serious research and studying. Dawn enrolled in professional courses in business, including, Entrepreneurs Scholarship for Enterprise, Management and Marketing Mastery.

Having the skill, experience, and knowledge Doing Biz For Yourself was officially launched in 2014 giving business owners and Entrepreneurs a real opportunity of honest local business support.

DBFY has grown from strength to strength, the mix of face to face network meetings and the online member only group gives members the opportunity to continue to grow relationships, and ask those burning questions and get genuine advice from people with real experience.

Passionate about ensuring small business always have opportunities, Dawn has used her connections to provide members with opportunities, such as mentoring programmes, exclusive invitations to prestigious events, and in 2018 started the DBFY Partnership program.

Joining forces with larger local business, members now have access to a knowledgeable legal source, bespoke personal development courses and business development opportunities.

In 2019 DBFY launched their second group in Rochdale. The response has been amazing, ensuring that the sector ratio is carefully managed keeping the opportunities for difference businesses as open and fair as possible.
